This ‘whole album’ part is important. I don’t have a habit of listening all of artist’s work in a single take. While I do appreciate it when it comes from radio station or by someone’s recommendation, it is something different when it’s contemplation on purpose. For me, visiting a painting exhibition, watching all of Kubrick’s films or listening to discography of Led Zeppelin is more demanding, if you want to truly experience it.
Interesting excerpt from Wikipedia:
De Stijl (“the style” in English) was a Dutch art movement (including the painter Mondrian). Vocalist Jack White had been an admirer of the style for some time, especially of furniture designer Gerrit Rietveld. Rietveld designed the Rietveld Schröder House, which Jack and Meg White visited while on tour in the Netherlands. De Stijl was dedicated to both Rietveld and Blind Willie McTell.
